April Bible Reading Challenge 🥰

Hey Reader,

Moments of desperation strike every human heart.

Whether tragedy, sickness, or brokenness, the reasons for our despair seem endless.

As I have drenched myself in the Psalms season after season since my daughter, Taylor’s, death in 2019, Psalm 102:17 has often arrested my attention.

“He will respond to the prayer of the destitute.”

I researched the word “destitute” because in my mind, I typically would define destitute as “homeless.” Maybe you too?

So I read every major Bible translation of this verse, thinking there might be another word to further explain.

But after eight translations, each one used the word “destitute.”

Then I began to read various dictionary definitions of the word “destitute.”

While we typically interpret this word as “lacking food, clothing or shelter,” the second definition simply means “lacking.”

“He will respond to the prayer of the lacking.”

You see, it’s not about what we lack.

It’s the fact that we are always missing something when we rely on ourselves.

It’s when we come to Him in honest desperation that God can do incredible work in our hearts and lives.

I formed a one-sentence prayer in response to Psalm 102.

“Lord, I’m desperate. Let it be for You.”

Join me as we examine 31 desperate moments in the Bible and the lives of those who echoed this prayer.

THE HOPE CIRCLE IS FOR YOU!

Could you use a little more hope in your life on a regular basis?

The Hope Circle is not a prayer class or a Bible study with homework.

It's an online live gathering via Zoom and meets twice a month.

My heart is to gather women who've been through hard things and choose hope together.

We pray. We talk about real stuff. We laugh. And we leave a little lighter than when we logged on.

Because hope was never meant to be a solo project. And neither were you.

The founding member rate of $19/month ends March 31. After that it goes to $29.

Check out the details HERE or join below.

Our April meeting dates are: 4/6, 7p Eastern and 4/16, 10a Eastern.

All meetings will be recorded and available to watch.

If something in you is saying "I think I need this", then we would love to have you join us!

$19.00 / month

Hello Reader, The angels at the empty tomb asked the women a question that I've been reflecting on this week: "Why do you look for the living among the dead?" This Easter, I'm getting honest about the dead places I've been looking for life — not out in the world, but inside my own heart. The self-talk that tears down instead of builds up. The thoughts that are not true, not honest, not of good report. What happens when what's living in our hearts starts flowing out of our mouths? You’ll...

Hello Reader, Have you ever felt so broken by grief that even praying felt impossible? Or found yourself angry at God in the middle of your loss and too afraid to admit it? In this episode, Rachel tackles one of the rawest questions in the prayer life: how do you pray when grief has made you angry at God? She walks through the book of Lamentations and the story of the widow at Zarephath in 1 Kings 17, where a grieving mother's rawest accusation leads to one of the most faith-deepening...

Hey Reader, This morning I was thinking about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus and reflecting on living in fear vs. faith. I’m so thankful that Jesus died for my sin and that he not only died, but that he LIVES! The Resurrection of our Lord is a celebration indeed! In my reflections, I wanted to share a few passages with you. I received this email question from a reader: How do I know where to read the Easter story in the Bible?
